Project: find a solution to getting a better sound onstage for Nigel on the Saxophone.

Solution:  We love building things! The latest bit of kit we have come up with  was a solution to a problem that many horn players have - mainly because the singer wants to have his monitor too loud so no-one else can hear themselves !!

I hunted around online but couldn't find quite the right solution.  Because I always use a wireless mic with the Honey B's, I needed something that I could just attach to the mic stand and play into when needed. Had to look cool too of course and be easy to transport around.

So, I came up with the sound reflector you can see here in the picture. We tried it on the shows this week and I'm happy to say it worked GREAT! Might still be a little room for revision but I think in principle it does the trick and is a lot easier to lug around than a monitor (and less expensive than in-

ear monitors!).

The system I ended up with is really just cobbled together from bits I had lying around the studio. I used a photography clam to attach it to a mic stand, which is connected to a standard mic gooseneck, and then a little bit of trickery to connect all that to a piece of 5mm perspex.

The whole assemble attaches really quickly on

to any mic stand.

Let me know if you have a use for one of these and I'll gladly send you through some more info.

So, there you have it. I'll post about some of the other wierd contraptions we have come up with too!

Cheers

Nigel
